Coronavirus in India Live Updates: Millions of people across the country are staying indoors as several states are locked-down in a bid to combat the spread of coronavirus. Delhi, Rajasthan, Parts of Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand are among the states where the government has announced complete lockdown from Monday.

Barring essential services, all government offices, educational institutes, autonomous bodies, business establishments, private offices, malls, shops, factories, godowns and public transport will remain closed in these areas.

However, is India’s move to lockdown much of the world’s second-most populous country enough to soften the impact of the coronavirus outbreak?

To help those whose livelihood is affected as a result of lockdown to curb the spread of CoronaVirus, all IAS Officers of Punjab Cadre shall contribute one day salary to Chief Minister Relief Fund.

Indian Railways has cancelled all passenger trains till 31st March in view of COVID19.

Lockdown has been imposed in 16 districts of Uttar Pradesh from 23-25 March in view of COVID19. Visuals from Kanpur’s Ramadevi vegetable market.

The ICMR on Sunday said a total of 114 laboratories have been approved across the country for coronavirus test.

According to a statement from Indian Council of Medical Research — the apex body in India for the formulation, coordination and promotion of biomedical research — while 87 of these laboratories are operational, 27 are in process.

While there are six such laboratories for COVID-19 testing each in Kerala and Delhi; Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu have seven functional laboratories.

Among the additional laboratories, Delhi will get two, while Kerala will have three. Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu will have one new lab each.


A total of 27 states and Union Territories are having the laboratories currently. India has reported 360 positive cases as of now with seven deaths.
